About Deep Impact
Deep Impact is Scotland's National Training conference for Christians in voluntary or paid youth and children’s work. This includes those working with churches, agencies or local authorities; for those with heaps of experience or just starting out.
The Deep Impact conference has a number of key aims….
- To create a space for youth and children’s workers to rest and relax in beautiful surroundings; and help you hear from God.
- To provide practical and Biblical input from experienced practitioners and theologians.
- To be a weekend for leaders to bring their volunteer teams for a weekend of team building, encouragement and shared learning.
- To be encouraged through connecting with others from across Scotland as we try and create a community of mutual support.

Who are we?
Deep Impact events are organised by the Scottish Christian Youth Work Forum (SCYWF).
SCYWF had its beginnings in 1995 when Eddie Lyle, then Director of Youth For Christ in Scotland, brought together representatives of various youth agencies to identify areas where they could work together for the sake of young people encountering Jesus in Scotland.
Since its beginning SCYWF has had a membership of around eight to ten organisations who meet regularly on an informal basis. Our overall vision and desire is to encourage and enable better Christian youth work in Scotland, through sharing ideas and resources and partnering together on various events.
In 2004 SCYWF established an informal relationship with the Evangelical Alliance in Scotland to provide them with an advisory/consultative service on youth related issues. In 2009, SCYWF warmly accepted the invitation to come fully under the auspices of the Evangelical Alliance in Scotland. Members agree to the Evangelical Alliance Basis of Faith.
What do we do?
Our main event is the annual Deep Impact conference which is for anyone involved in employed or voluntary youth work across Scotland. The Deep Impact conference was founded in 1999 by Ian Clyne, director of Highlands and Islands Youth for Christ. Seven years later the event was handed over to SCYWF who have been responsible for the conference since 2007.
We also run other social and training events throughout the year which seek to foster networking amongst youth workers for fellowship, encouragement and equipping one another in the Christian service that we are each involved in.
Much of what SCYWF aims to do is to enhance communication amongst youth work agencies and denominations; to share resources and support one another; and to seek ways in which we can work in partnership rather than allowing unnecessary duplication or even competition in our work.

We are always looking for new friends and members! Please contact us (using the contact form) if you’d like to find out more about joining with SCYWF.
